Which animals were the first to be based in land?

Amphibians could live on land but they had to return to the water to breed. So they were not true land animals. The eggs hatched into small tadpoles which had to remain in the water until they became adults. Reptiles were the first animals with backbone or vertebrates to live on land. They laid their eggs on land and the baby developed inside the egg.
