What gods did the Babylonians worship?
The Babylonians worshiped many gods. They included the powerful mother goddess, Ishtar, and Marduk, the dragon god. These were their most powerful gods. They also believed in winged gods or genies which were thought to protect royal palaces from demons and disease. One of their myths tells how the Babylonian king and hero Gilgamesh’s pride angered the gods so much that they sent a bull of heaven to kill him.
