Youngest girl to scale Mt Everest
Thirteen-year-old Malavath Poorna created history on May 25, 2014, when she planted the tricolour on the highest peak of the world. Poorna, born in the Pakala village of Telangana, is of tribal origin. She is a student of class IX in one of the Telengana Social Welfare Residential Schools. Poorna and her team began their ascent of Mt. Everest in April 2014, making it to the summit in May.
