My Biggest Surprise

The morning of 01 January 2009 gave me the biggest surprise I’ve ever had. That cold wintry morning showed me something I have only dreamt of seeing all my life. As we reached Manali on 31 December to celebrate the New Year, Daddy promised me that it would be a trip to remember and it turned out to be more than that. I woke up to see a dream unfolding. Little pearl-like white flakes were falling, covering every nook and corner of the earth, the trees and houses. Hints of grey stones shone from between the white carpet, making the scene look ethereal. The tree branches laden with snow merged with the sky and the pristine beauty filled my ‘eyes. It seemed as though cotton had been scattered everywhere.

I lost no time is running out to make my first ever snowman! It was taller than me and wore my cap! I walked, jumped, rolled in the snow, and aimed countless snowballs at Daddy. My dream had come true and I can’t thank my parents enough for the holiday.
