Why do we feel hungry?

I have noticed I always feel hungriest in the morning after I wake up, and in the evening after swimming for an hour. I have dinner at eight in the night and I wake up at seven in the morning. Mom says that all the food that I have for dinner gets used up in the night while I sleep and in the morning my stomach is empty so I feel hungry.

The body requires energy to work and this energy comes from food. When I swim all my energy gets used up and I come out of the water feeling very hungry. I know I am hungry when I start hearing these growling sounds in my stomach sometimes accompanied with a burning sensation in the pit of my belly. The moment I eat some food this sensation goes away. Occasionally I feel hungry with the smell of food. The aroma of Mom’s Pay Bhaji always has that affect on me. I start feeling hungry immediately.
