A Morning Walk

“Sunday morning, up with the lark,

I think I’d take a walk in the park,

Hey, Hey, Hey, it’s a beautiful day!”

This is a lovely song from the yesteryear which brings a certain kind of freshness along with it. The idea of a walk in the morning is always appealing to all ages. Even the lazy, when forced out, come back feeling good.

The fact that we feel refreshed after a morning walk is not psychological. There is a scientific explanation for it. When we walk or exercise our body releases endorphins which make us feel good and energetic. Hence, when done in the morning we have a spring in our step and a positive attitude to tackle all that lies ahead of us. The oxygen levels are high early morning, the pollution is at its lowest best and the air pleasant. The green all around is pleasing and relaxing. There is something about the birds chirping, the light breeze and the mellow sun that brings a certain calmness to the mind. A morning walk should be undertaken alone. Early morning is the time to be alone with nature and observe its wonders, do some introspection and have minimal noise pollution. Going with friends has its own charm but that can be done in the evenings. What you stand to gain in the morning will not come to you otherwise.

We live a busy life with a lot of burden on our shoulders. In such circumstances, giving half an hour to your body and mind is beneficial. All you need is some self discipline. There is nothing to beat the feel good factor of a morning walk.
