Who built the Tower of London?
It was William the Conqueror who built the Tower of London. He did it to inspire fear in the people towards him. It was more of a prison than a fortress. The tower is still maintained as an arsenal. Its outer wall was drained by a deep moat which was drained in 1843. At the tower we can see the famous beefeaters or yeomen warders, a band of 40 men who defend the tower.
