How Is It, That The Birds Sing?

In nature, the loveliest sound is the song of the bird. When we are out in the country we hear birds singing, it seems that they are telling one another something. In fact, the birds do communicate with one another, in no way unlike so many animals do. On many occasions, the sounds they make are mere expressions of joy, like we make cries of `oh’ and ‘Ah’. The birds mostly attempt to communicate.

A mother making sound to warm the young chicks of danger and causes them to crouch down without any motion even. Another call collects them. The wild birds while migrating, cry at night. These cries keep the birds together and help the lost ones to return to the flock.

The language of birds is different from our in use. We express ideas through words. Birds do not learn any language, but it is an inborn instinct with them. An experiment was conducted by keeping the chicks away from cocks and hens. When they grew up, they were able to make the unheard sounds like others that had grown up with cocks and hens.

The birds can learn signs of other birds as well. This is how the mocking bird gets its name. A sparrow brought up with canaries surely endeavors to sing like a canary. A canary brought up with nightingale, likewise gives a good imitation of the songs of a nightingale. A parrot we know can imitate the sounds it hears. The birds although are born with some instincts, yet are able to learn too.

We know the birds have dialects. The song of the same kind of bird sounds different in different parts of the world. This is to show that the birds when it comes to singing learn a bit in their lifetime.
