A Police Officer

The Police department is an important department of the Government. A police officer is the protector of law and order in society. He is a great threat for lawbreakers and anti-social elements. He is a useful public worker and is paid from the Government treasury. He is smart, energetic and looks wonderful in his uniform. Without him, no Government can function smoothly. Freedom and security of people depends on him.

The Policeman has to perform several duties. He keeps watch over our houses at night. He goes about in streets at night and guards our property from burgles and robbers. He even controls the traffic on the junctions. He catches out lawbreakers and gets them punished. He works hard to maintain peace and order in society.

He takes care that the law is not broken. This he does sometimes at the risk of his own life. At late night, when everybody is fast asleep, we can hear his whistle or sound of his footsteps. His name discourages people to quarrel. He puts check on unpleasant accidents and thefts. He compels people to follow the rules on the road.

His existence is of great advantage to society. He remains busy all the times in communal riots. He is always on the side of the poor and the needy. Thieves and criminals are afraid of his name. He is also a spy because in civil dress, he investigates into the matters. He is very useful in preventing the coming dangers. During festive and marriage processions, public meetings and religious processions he controls the crowds and makes sure that law and order is not hampered.

A police officer has many good qualities. He is dutiful, obedient and never steps back from his duty. He is always bold and courageous. He never hesitates to face dangers. He is at one’s disposal to render service.

A police officer has a striking personality. He has broad chest and strong legs. He is always alert, active and energetic. His grand appearance keeps the bad characters at distance.

The police officer is an extremely important part of the Government machinery. However, he should be more educated because an illiterate person does not know how to behave towards good and cultured families. Moreover, his pay should be liberal in awarding for his extraordinary service to society.
