Dreaming of Hawaii

I could see sand everywhere. Some people were swimming while others were sitting at the bar sipping tall glasses of interesting looking drinks. I ordered a virgin pina colada. As I sipped this divine drink made up of pineapple and coconut milk, I couldn’t help but think that when God said Paradise, he actually meant Hawaii. Tall coconut trees waved their fronds in the cool evening breeze.

Suddenly, I heard the strumming of guitars and I turned to see pretty girls dressed in hula skirts and stunning Hawaiian print blouses making their way to the low podium. They began to do the Hula dance. Everything, right from the huge hibiscus blossom tucked behind their ears to the little flower anklets they wore shouted out loud, “Hawaii”. Their bodies flowed to the rhythm of the music. Men accompanied them wearing brightly coloured Hawaiian shirts and matching shorts. A little girl offered me a ‘lei’ which is a Hawaiian garland. I buried my nose in them and took a deep breath. They tickled my nose and sneezed, my eyes opened to find my sister tickling my nose with a feather. Oh what a dream!
