Importance Of Cleanliness For Me

The word ‘cleanliness’, reminds me about good health, long life and hygienic conditions. The habit of keeping oneself clean and maintaining hygiene is very important. There is a saying, ‘Cleanliness is close to Godliness’. Here hygiene and cleanliness means a lifelong part of one’s life that is very necessary for healthy body and mind. Besides providing a decent and pleasant look, cleanliness keeps me at a distance from diseases. Cleanliness is required for a long and healthy living.

According to me, individual can lead a good and diseases free life if he constantly keeps his body and mind in a good and healthy condition. A person avoiding and neglecting cleanliness of his body and clothes, suffers bad health. Dirty hands, skin, clothes, house, surrounding, etc. are harmful for one’s healthiness. We must stay away from filth and dirt because it results into diseases. Thus, we must keep our body clean to stay away from dirt. A person with filthy habits and dirty hands, face and clothes has no self-respect for himself. He loses respect of his family, relatives and friends. Thus, hygiene is not only necessary for one’s health but also to gain respect and praise of others.

Personal hygiene includes washing our hands, mouth and face regularly. I regularly use cleaning agent like soaps, hand sanitizers, hand gels, etc. Whenever I take out my shoes, I clean my legs with soap. Washing vegetables with clean water before cooking them, cutting our nails regularly, cleaning our nose, ears and hair are some of the important hygienic habits. I avoid touching my mouth and face at public places. Before changing, I never go to bed with school dress or with outside clothes. This is bad for our as well as others hygiene. Moreover, cleaning teeth twice a day is very necessary for good dental health.

Being hygienic is an important social duty just like other social duties. Keeping our house clean is not enough. We should think broadly not only by keeping our house clean but also our neighbourhood, schools, footpath, our body, our daily usable things, etc. free of dirt and filth. Generally, many have been noticed throwing out dirt of their houses. This must be completely avoided.

For me cleanliness is very important. As Students, let us all take oath: “Cleanliness is our motto and we shall promote it”.
