Training the dog

We found Maya on our front porch one day and we took her in.

By the end of the day, all of us had fallen in love with Maya. When Dad decided to allow us to keep Maya we were ecstatic.

Maya was a stray dog and had not been trained so we took her to a dog trainer. The first day Maya learned how to sit when we said ‘sit’ and stand when we said ‘stand’. The next week, the trainer showed us how to train Maya to fetch the newspaper. We spent the entire week after that training Maya to fetch picked up fast and she loved fetching the ball.

It took us a whole week to potty train Maya. She was smart. She figured out soon enough that she w supposed to defecate on the newspaper kept in her den.

Training Maya was as much fun as it was a learning process for us.
