The haunted house

The house at the end of our lane is old and covered with creepers. Rumour has it that the lady who owned the house was killed by a burglar and her spirit still roams about in the house.

One day my elder brother and his friends decided to check out if the rumour was true. Armed with a torchlight, some blankets, food and a portable DVD player they entered the house to find that it was covered with cobwebs everywhere. They had dinner and decided to watch a DVD. They were watching the movie ‘The Ghost Returns’ when suddenly they heard a loud sound as if someone had broken a huge vase. They thought that it must have been a sound from the movie. A few minutes later the flashlight they were carrying began to flicker and the DVD player went off. They began to feel a little scared. They quickly got under the blankets. A loud scream pierced the night air. They heard loud footsteps coming downstairs. They were so scared, they got up and ran and didn’t stop running until they reached home.

I still tease my brother about it and ask him jokingly it the house was haunted and it serves to embarrass him every time.
