Joining Boarding School

I had earned a reputation for being notorious. One day, when I was in the fifth grade, Dad decided that he had given me enough chances and told Mom that he was sending me to Boarding school.

Reading all those Malory Tower books had made me yearn to go to boarding school. Rockfeller Boarding school was in Panchgani, an overnight journey from where my parents lived. I had read all about it on the Internet even before Dad decided to send me there. The campus was beautiful and all the kids looked great dressed in their uniforms and navy vests. The Principal welcomed me to the school and requested the matron to show me to my room and before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye to my parents. Mom was a weeping mess and Dad had his usual stern look but it melted, just for a moment, to give me a warm hug.

The matron walked me to a huge grey building marked Rockefeller Sun. It was a huge dormitory and the matron showed me to my bed. There was a table and cupboard next to it. She said that breakfast would be served in exactly ten minutes and that I should follow the rest of the girls to the breakfast room if I wanted any. As the gong sounded, all the kids rushed an in the direction of the canteen and I followed them excitedly to have my first taste of boarding breakfast. I couldn’t believe it; I was finally here in Boarding school.
