A Computerized World
We live in a computerized world. The original computer is said to have come about in the 1940’s but it is only recently that it has come out in the form that we acknowledge it as. In a short duration, it has progressed phenomenally and today millions and millions of us bank on it.
In simple terms, a computer is an electronic machine made up of devices to enter, process and store data and give an output. Today, this machine is so advanced that it takes on an unlimited load of work, consuming minimal power. From large cumbersome looking gadgets to sleek and compressed versions, the journey has been rapid and successful. Bill Gates is a major contributor to the computer revolution which began with Microsoft in 1975. Being easy to operate and having such a large storage capacity and unlimited software, computers rule every office and almost every home. The concept of interne with its search engines and irresistible expanse of information availability have made computers a must have. The flip side to the computerized world is too much of comfort. When man is dependent on machines he does not put himself to good use. The average person lets the computer work rather than his brain. Getting everything from the comfort of your home-banking, tickets, shopping etc. also leads to physical inactivity. Children prefer computer games to outdoors which is not a healthy trend. Sitting for long hours on the computer brings with it other ailments.
Computers are a great invention. As long as the computerized world does not override our basic needs, it is an undeniable asset and we can’t imagine a world without it.
