Why does the wind blow?
The sun’s rays heat the surface of the earth but not uniformly. Some parts receive more heat than the others. The side of the earth experiencing night does not get heat while the side experiencing day gets heated a lot.
Heated air expands and gets bigger. As it gets bigger it gets lighter. As it rises it creates a vacuum and attracts the air from parts which are not experiencing the suns heat. The force with which this vacuum pulls colder air creates movement in air and it is this moving air we experience that is called the wind. You feel this wind every day at dawn and dusk.
When we cross over from day to night, the day side is heated and the night side is not; the wind blows from night to day and we feel a cool breeze. The wind blows to make the hot place feel cooler.
