The Travel Bug
The feeling of having caught the travel bug is a unique feeling altogether. A travel bug is an urge to travel. Travelling is the most exhilarating experience. It lifts your spirits like nothing else possibly can!
My father having been in the Indian Air Force, our life was nomadic. I was used to shifting base once in two years and though I used to brood over the friends left behind, there was an excitement to see a new place and meet new people. Travelling, whether on transfer or on a holiday has always appealed to me. Recently, I caught the travel bug like never before. Our country is the perfect combination of varied landscapes, climates and culture, waiting to be explored. Beaches, Mountains, Deserts, Plains and Islands are there for us to choose from. This summer we decided to hit the beaches of Goa and do nothing but sun —bathing. We had been there before and seen the famous sites, be it Born Jesus Basilica, Dona Paula or Big Foot. We just wanted to do beach hopping. We stayed near the Airport and so the quiet beach of Bogmalo was perfect for our evenings, being two kilometers away. The morning saw us explore beaches of Majorda and Colva followed by lunch in Panaji. We then went to the beaches of the North-Baga, Calangute and Anjuna. This time we saw the night market near Anjuna. It was a sight indeed. At the end of four days we were craving for more. Yet, we returned via Bijapur but not before we saw the Gol —Gumbaz, once the world’s largest dome.
This was followed by a trip to Delhi and Hyderabad with promises of more travel, perhaps more adventurous.
