Free Speech
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak without censorship or limitation. In India, our fundamental right includes freedom of self-expression which indicates not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and is commonly subject to limitations.
Man needs to express his thoughts, feelings and opinions either verbally or in writing or through any other medium- in short, he needs to communicate freely. No person can claim to be a free man if he is not permitted to speak or express himself the way he wants to, yet, in the best interests of the Nation, certain restrictions are imposed upon us. Anti-national messages or hate messages through any medium is prohibited. Inflammatory messages are also against the law. Any written matter or speech that jeopardizes the smooth governance and functioning of a country is breaking the law, and those perpetrating it should be punished.
Ours is a free democratic country and we enjoy many rights, free speech and expression being one of them. It is only reasonable that some limitations be imposed upon us especially if it is for the benefit of the country and its countrymen.
