Caring For the Environment

‘Caring for the environment is caring for ourselves. Ours is the only known planet which can support life. We have, however, ruined it by reckless use of natural resources without adopting a restorative and sensible approach.

We have to begin the damage control somewhere and it has to start now. The uncontrolled burning of fuel is releasing carbon into the environment causing global warming. The use of ozone-depleting substances such as CFCs is destroying the protective ozone layer. Water is being wasted without a thought where a simple thing like turning off the tap can save millions of gallons of water. Use of CFL rather than bulbs, and traveling by public transport can save energy and prevent pollution. Writing on both sides of the paper can help reduce the cutting of trees. Throwing rubbish into the recycle bins, minimizing use, and avoiding the burning of plastic materials can curtail pollution of the environment.

Man needs to give these issues thought and adopt saving measures now. Small steps taken today can turn into huge benefits to save the future of our beautiful planet.
